[NTLK] Clear newton repair

I have a clear newton that stopped working. 

It was sitting in its power tray/charger for many months, plugged in. After a while, it would only power on In the tray. Now nothing. 

I removed batteries and plugged charger into newton- still nothing. 

Because of the rarity of the device, I'd prefer not to ship it away for repairs. I'm in  The OC, southern Cali.
