The irony is that this sounds like nothing more than a dead PRAM
battery. Maybe want to check that before giving it up. Cost about $5
last time I bought one for a Pismo. My wife's Pismo currently has a
dead PRAM and it takes forever to get it to boot, and I have to swap
in my not-quite-entirely-dead big battery for it to boot after a dozen
tries.
