I have also created Newton Press books from Baen books. I used Word 2000. I
have a template that basically duplicates the layout of a Newton screen. I
dump the rtf file in there scan through the pages real fast looking for
obvious formatting errors. Then I save it off as an rtf file. I load it into
Press. I always have to delete the first line of unrecognized rtf code. But
the rest is fine.

At one point I was looking to make a couple of Newton Books from some
books in the Baen Free Library. I downloaded them in RTF, but it didn't
work out very well. I used WordPerfect 3.5 (the free version) to open
them, then saved them again as RTF using a translator that said
something like 'for older applications'. It was a lot more suitable for
using with Newton Press than the original.
