Thank you! Maybe "instant gratification" is the phrase that fits all this the best.

I'm sure no one like to wait for things, but the expectation that the needed "something" in question (be it information, a spare part, whatever) is immediately available seems to be something that's being taken more and more for granted.

Perhaps Big Blue beating Kasparov isn't as impressive as the relatively commonplace phenomenon of people regularly receiving more emails than they could ever hope to look at, let alone answer? [shrugs]
