He said similar to me when I had the chance to meet him in Oxford when he
came to England a couple of years ago. I had my Newton in my hand because I
wanted to ask him about a particular thing he'd said (and I wanted to quote
correctly). His eyes lit up and he said "Oh wow! A Newton! I loved my
Newton! Such an organic user interface!" Then he said something about how
it looked like I got good HWR and what did I use if for and I mentioned (I
couldn't help it) how annoyed I am that Apple seems to be incapable of
understanding how good the Newton was, and how they should make a new
up-to-date version. Then we moved on to my question. But I had the
impression he really liked the whole idea of the Newton and its HWR, so I'm
not surprised to see him talking it up in the video.

Shalom.
