The data type is usually set by the transport which was responsible for
getting the item into the inbox, e.g. Neo tries to set it based on file
extension and OBEX headers. Other transports such as MailV or beaming do
something similar. If you just tap the item in the inbox, the Newton
should give a little bit more info what kind of data it is. You can then
maybe try to change the file extension and see if the data is recognized.
