Apart from the decreased time for DRAM refresh, you also have a
decreased time for DRAM and FLASH memory data setup before writes and
reads. Apple may have left adequate margin when calculating and
programming the number of wait states for memory access and Intel may
have underrated the access times on the chips that they sold to
Apple, and Digital may have underrated the processors - but that is a
lot of "may"s.

On the other hand the power consumption varies as the clock frequency
to the second power. Double the frequency, quadruple the power
consumption. This power has to go somewhere, in microelectronics it
is dissipated as heat. If the chips cannot dissipate the heat fast
enough, damage will occur. The power also has to come from somewhere,
any guesses?

By all means push the envelope, void your warranty, pwn that device,
but you do loose your ability to complain about low battery life,
long term reliability, inability to synchronize serial
communications, data corruption, and heat and noise.
