Hi Steve,
I found the option to load "B&W" or two different greyscale options - I selected greyscale but still varying degrees of success.
Pages still won't load thumbnails if I select "view with images" but I can open the image cache to view the thumbnails individually.
I have to run to work otherwise I'd tinker with it further... more to come.
