If you look at the ports on back of the machine and
see a SCSI port you have a Lombard. The Pismo
introduced Firewire ports to the PowerBook line to
replace the SCSI connector: if your machine has two of
those on the back, you've got a Pismo.

Another way to tell is to examine the bottom of the
unit: the Pismo has a "family number" of M7572. The
Lombard's "family number" is M5343.
