I'm using a USB hub/port replicator with the PL2303 drivers. When you
installed the drivers, did you install both the OSX and the OS 9 versions?

Assuming you have installed the Mac OS 9 drivers:

I sometimes have trouble with silent failure (port identified, does not
respond, no error message) in OS X after using the driver in OS 9 (as I
understand, the reverse of the issue you have). It may be that using
the driver for one OS ties up the interface to USB/serial adapter (an
issue also with the Keyspan adapters?).

I suggest that you restart your computer, open Classic immediately, and
then run NCU.
