----With transfer rates so slow, is there any particular advantage to
getting bluetooth other than the neato factor?

BT is simple, consistent, and convenient. No cables. No settings to
tweak. On a Mac, that is. My XP machine never could do Bluetooth. I
bought an older iMac and run OS X 10.4 without a hitch. It's made me
decide I'm done fussing with Windows.
I can live with a bit slower speed: its ease and convenience far
outweigh speed. Packages aren't huge, either, so that makes BT viable
for me.
