uh I've used it quite well independently from any other computer. at one
point it was my ONLY computer for about a year. everything i did for me
(not the client) was done solely with a newton 2100. email, billing,
notes, scheduling, contacts, etc.

syncing is a pita unless you are using similarly aged software. my
favorite was always organizer (schedule, contacts, some notes) the
claris seemed to work for those who used it.

in a way i liked some aspects of the older connection sw as it allowed
me to change the notes on the mac and sync them back to the newton.

the biggest issue is that the newton is so flexible and expandable that
keeping ANY pc/mac software up to the task of tracking all of the add on
data is painful. and this would be an issue with any other computer if
it had this capability. no other computer anywhere (that i am aware of)
can do this.

want to add new data fields to the address book, do it
want to connect the schedule to the people at a certain company, do it
want to add new features to the notes, do it
want to add ....

you get the point. so how is ANY other computer program supposed to keep
up with that?? palm et al never sees this issue as they don't allow you
to just randomly add new data fields to any random organized collection
of data.

try this go to a pc and create an access database with a screen to add data.

now add a new data field

now do back to the screen you created originally

how do you put data into the new field? you don't because you now have
to recreate the original screen to add the data field. now do this with
ALL of the applications within a newton. get the issue???
