[NTLK] HWR... Used Mac?

I've always wanted to fool around with an Apple/Mac. I currently run a
Core2Duo PC hotrod, but would like to try out the other side of the pond.

What I seek is a used Apple, probably from eBay. I don't know or understand
their CPU ratings and so was wondering if anyone here could recommend
something halfway decent. Don't want a new machine, but rather something
around 2-4 years old. Something that will talk to my 2100 (My PC has no
serial port (Asus Striker Extreme)).
