I just found this mail which confirms that as well:

"Eckhart,

It seems that there are a few differences of the Ambicom cards that
need some explanation to some of our fellow Newton Wireless Fans. I
hope this is helpful.

There are 3 models of BT2000CF

For those of you that have ordered a BT2000CF and received a model
with a black antenna, do not fret, it is actually the BT2000E and is
just Ambicom's way of consolidating three models. The the stock
number BT2000E is no longer available. There are actually 2 of the
blue antenna model. One chipset is incompatible with the Newton.
There is a Version A and Version B. Version A is the only model that
will work. You pretty much have to specify that you want that model
when you call Ambicom. the IC id on the back of the card will be a
number that has either an A or B in it. The one with the A is the one
you want. You may be asking "How can they consolidate three models
into one stock number?" Quite simply actually. The driver package
(windows) allows for the consolidation based on 3 different numbers.
Yes, they are different but windows drivers make them function the
same way. This model consolidation does not help us Newton users any
at all. If you acquired a BT2000CF but it is not recognized by
Blunt, go under prefs and select bt2000E and you should be fine.

I hope this helps some of you.
