Let me just say a few items.
There are only a few items that are used besides the wiring...
This would be the Thermistor and the Polycell Fuse.
I believe the item in question is referring to the Polycell Fuse
(hopefully I have described this correctly) It is the item used to
prevent major damage to a pack in case it gets shorted.
