Yes, provided you do it the right way ;-)

There are manufacturing tolerances both in the serial board and in the
Newton.
If they add up the wrong way, the bottom of the case might eventually
develop
a crack, unless you do what I describe in this picture:

I think I've installed at least two dozens of these boards by now and
haven't
had a single complaint.
