There are a few things you have to do:

1 - enable R&D mode (root) and remove the watchdog flag.
using the flasher app from a Mac, the command is like this:

$ ./flasher.macosx --enable-rd-mode --set-rd-flags=no-lifeguard-reset -R

2 - you have to ssh in, so you need to setup the ssh server.

<http://maemo.org/maemowiki/InstallSsh>

3 - once sshed in as root, kill the windowmanger:

as root, do a command like this:
#ps aux

you'll see a line like this:
489 user 2172 S < /usr/bin/matchbox-window-manager -theme theme2 ..

then kill it:
#kill 489

The screen on the 770 should just turn white. if it dims (as the screen
blanker kicks in) it should turn back on by clicking it.

If you didn't remove the watchdog flag with the flasher, killing the window
manager will cause the 770 to reboot.....

4 - einstein apps must be in the 770, and can't be run from the MMC. It
also must be run as root.

These steps may seem like a lot, but if you are hacking around your 770,
its pretty easy. YMMV.
