rummage around and see if you can find Mac OBEX tools.

That's one of those things where it gets much easier if someone produced
the technical details of the IR remote protocol. If someone doesn't, and
it becomes a matter of reverse engineering the thing with a high-speed
IR camera or something, then the odds of it happening go way, way down.
