Hi List. This prototype is a bit rough round the edges, but I think
it's closer to what I'm aiming at. Please see...

The text explains the changes.

As ever, comments welcome.

I've got a better idea of material costs etc. The one thing I'm unhappy
with is the plastic rod I've sourced. It's fibreglass and so splits
along its face and leaves grooves that get filled with the fine
aluminium sanding dust. Not very presentable yet.

Thereafter it's quite easy to make but the tolerances required to line
up the components accurately are beyond my current DIY tools. I have a
plan in hand for that, but I'm still not sure whether this thing is
mass-produceable!!

Anyway, I was delighted by how much of a response I got two weeks ago.
I hope no-one found it too much, if so please let me know, and
certainly reply to me with comments off list if you want to keep the
traffic down.

Regards,

Jon.
