There are other things to set as well. Go into your FIFO buffers and
set it on one mark from off (as close as you can get to off) and see if
that helps. I found this helped me a lot. Another thing to try,
freezing "active" packages like Tapbar, Dashboard, or other enhancements
that are usually "running" all the time. If you have several of these
running, sometimes it can cause connection problems. Not often but it
is another thing to try if you continue to have problems.

BTW- Joel is right -1 error is only a connection issue, and nothing to
do with corrupt programs or data.
