I think Brad's got the best Newt-carrying option, having the capability to
defend his Newt from potential thieves. :O)
I use a 2700 cubic cm MountainSmith "rock climber's technical pack." It is
quite handy for anything from day hiking to longer mountain biking excursions.
This bag has an internal water bladder sleeve for a hydration unit. When
traveling in civilized areas, I usually throw the most critical gear (digital
camera, Newton MP 2100, clean socks, etc.) in the compartment where the hydration
unit normally would go, and I use the large main section to hold my laptop.
The outer pocket holds adapters, cords, and my PDA (if I don't have a shirt
pocket). I don't have room in there for my air rifle (handy for squirrels), so
maybe I'll have to get a breakdown model. ;O) This bag rocks, and there is
no mistaking it for a "man purse." If I need to look more professional for
business meetings and such, I can use my Samsonite hard shell briefcase.
