I am successfully using the Lucent WaveLAN Gold card (PC24E-H-FC) with the latest update to Airport Express, V6.1.

Airport Express settings:
- Airport Tab -
Wireless Security: 128-bit WEP
Channel: Automatic
Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
- Network Tab -
Distribute IP Addresses
Share Single IP address (using DHCP and NAT), use 10.0.1.1 addressing

Newton settings:
- Lucent WaveLAN/IEEE Setup -
Mode: Infrastructure
Use WEP Checked
WEP Key: String ********
- Internet Setup -
Configuration: DHCP Server
Card: Lucent WaveLAN/IEEE
Domain Name: <None>
