Sorry, I do not understand:

1) The kitchen is not supposed to be a preferred permanent environment for
the Newt
2) If something is wrong with your kitchen temperature, why do you think of
turning a switch of your fridge??
3) To perform such permanent task I would prefer to have a permanently
installed hardware, there are very nice LCD display temperature modules on
the market with switch outputs
