No. It follows a mathematical function that
you will experience as gradually. The definition
is that after a certain time the backlight
has half of its brightness left. After using
it for the same amount of time again, it has half of
that left, i. e. a quarter of
what you started with. In all likeliness you
won't notice any difference in day to day use. Just
as you won't notice the changes that age applies
to your face if you look into a mirror every day.
You will notice the difference in brightness
immediately, though, if you compare your Newton's
backlight to a new one.
