Oh,
It would have been nice to have DVD-ROM on a 1400!
ACTUALLY...(!)
Earlier this year, I tried installing a dvd in my 1400...

I had an extra Apple bootable dvd+-rw drive, slot loading, that I installed
in a 12x cd-rom drive from a 1400 (the only cd-rom version that could be
upgraded in the 1400). I did not expect that it would show a movie on my 1400 --
since I did not try using a dvd PC card -- but it DID see a dvd-rom.

Now, my 1400c, mentioned previously tonite, is a 400mhz upgraded version,
which is probably essential to reduce time lags.
