Clare,

I just love music. In all shapes and forms. I am 54 and vividly remember
the "rock and roll" revolution. I also played in band through high school
(trumpet and baritone), so I developed an appreciation of classical music.
M y
parents loved '30's and '40's swing music. So it would be playing on the
hi-fi often. My grandparents owned and old crank style 78 Victrola and I
still
have dozens of the records we would listen to over and over. I guess you
could say my tastes are eclectic. At one time I could play (some not very
well)
dozens of instruments. Flute, clarinet, sax, all the brass instruments,
but
not too many stringed instruments which is kind of funny because I have
been
playing guitar for over 40 years. As you no doubt know, once you learn
some
theory, and fingering patterns, you can adapt to most instruments and at
least figure out a tune or two. Scales even. Life takes funny turns
sometimes. I had thought I would end up doing something in the music
business. If
not as a performer, then something behind the scenes. Other opportunities
presented themselves and now I am relegated to the occasional concerts,
portable
media, or my unaccomplished guitar playing. I have no regrets, just
longings.

I live in the Detroit Michigan area and the Detroit Symphony has featured a
basson quartet at a few concerts. These performances are a real treat.
They
play music that is just incredible and at the same time they are funny as
all get out. Quite irreverent. One of the first dates I took my wife on
some
30 years ago, was to a performance by the quartet at a local community
college. Hot date, huh? What a way to impress a girl. Wooden chairs in a
gym
like setting, sipping apple juice, and listening to what some people would
call
a rather bizarre evening. Lucky for me, she loved it! We had a great time

and she ended up thinking I was a little out of the ordinary, but in a good
way. Go figure. Shortly after we were engaged.

My novel. Hmm, well, it is asemi-historical, based on a true story, novel
on golf. Some poetic license will be involved. I love golf. I live on a
golf course, have my own golf cart and compete regularly at an intermediate
level. The concept is a little complex to share in a short email, and
probably
boring to someone who is not into golf, but if I ever manage to pull it off
I
think it could be a best seller. Option the movie rights. Hang with the
starts. Who knows?

I will sign off now, good luck, keep the reeds wet, and the Newt green.
