Matt,

I would definitely be there if it were not for the fact that I am having
rotator cuff surgery on the 14th. By the 17th I will be lucky to even get out
of bed.

Please remember my name and include me in any future meetings you might
schedule.

Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
Please excuse this brief disruption to the current Newtonian discussions.
This posting is intended for Newtonites within driving distance of the
Detroit,
Michigan area.

There is a Newton Gathering/Meeting/Meet-and-Greet event scheduled for
Sunday
afternoon, April 17th, from 1:00 pm to whenever. This will be held at the
Macomb County Library (main library), located on Hall Road (M-59) at
Garfield
Road. If you know where Macomb Community College is, you can find the
Library,
which is located adjacent to the northern end of campus.

I need to get confirmation for those (if any) who definitely plan to attend.

As far as agenda goes, I hope to have some presentation materials put
together for a discussion on the utilization of disparate technologies. This
will
likely have to be viewed on my laptop screen, unless I can find somebody to
loan
me a projector-to-television device (non-Newton). Also, I have some Newton
hardware accessories for your viewing pleasure: a bar scanner pen, an
e-probe
scientific probe kit, and various other unique things. I must confess that
I've
not demo'd the e-probe kit (It is still new in the original box), but I hope
to
figure it out before the meeting. The bar code scanner pen device requires
an
Apple laptop or desktop, so actually demo-ing this will depend upon whether
anybody would show up with an Apple computer.

Also, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what enticements that
a poor, unemployed, pseudo-intellectual might offer to draw visitors. I'm
going to offer some special Newton eBooks to those who attend. These eBooks
may or
may not be offered later to other Newtonians. If you want them first,
you'll
have to try and show up for this meeting.

Other possible agenda: Discussions and planning for future regular regional
meetings, hardware-hacking ideas and other mad scientist goodness, possible
file sharing via the Newton IrDA, etc.

Please respond with a definite 'Yes' or 'No', so I'll know whethe or not to
bring coffee, cookies, brown aci, er, never mind the last one. I need to
figure
out how to make all this happen, and that requires a bit of planning. I
will be happy to provide very good written instructions and maps (I'm a
technical
writer, ya know).

Your participation will help to make this a great event! Thank you for your
consideration.

Warmest regards,

Matt Kowalczyk (Matt K.)
