I will have to disagree with you there.
Microsoft seems to see that there are enough people out there who want
a device in that particular niche and oblige by offering it.

Think about it. If you have a XP box and Pocket PC PDA you need
ActiveSync to sync it together. Which also offers the need for
additional software be it a crippled version of Word on the PDA or
such... It is a very well planned business plan - if you had though
about it first you would be the one with the well stocked bank acct.
