Hmm... if it were me, i'd start from scratch.. make sure you have the right drivers installed... check the list twice.. delete your internet setup... recreate it.. go into prefs and make sure its set to ethertalk instead of local... and then try it again.. once it works.. it works!

I seem to also be having trouble with the newt trying to launch the
'chooser'.
I get the same -61001 error with a message about the chooser too...
