My recommendation is Frank Gruendel: You'd have to ship your Newt to Germany
but you would get German workmanship and price. So even after shipping you
would still pay the same, or less, than you would get elsewhere and you would
get simply the best workmanship. He's fairly active on this list and you can
find his email from the archive.

Example: he made an external newton battery source for me: the cable he used
was industrial strength - stronger than the newton AC cable - and *double tied.
As in "not going to break". When he sold me an emate, he installed a washer and
oiled the hinge and basically said "this emate is -not- going to break". I'd
mention the prices but then I would be ashamed for paying so little. He's also
customized a 130 and 2100 for me (removed anti-glare reflector - i find it
unhelpful and reduces pen sensitivity).

Another *possibility is Stephanie Maks (sp?) in Canada: she's also really
talented but I don't know if she offers to repair others newts or what her
prices are. Judging by all the free hackish info on her site I figure she'd do
a good job at a reasonable price.

Otherwise? There used to be a Dr. Newton in Canada who would do memory
upgrades. But I think he is at near or in retirement. Mr. PCB man has other
more important things for now and I think he only does dongle-destroyer
upgrades anyway (not because of technical competence; He's a full-time employee
at a firm though so newts are for him, too 'just a hobby').

Victor might be able to recommend other persons or maybe there is a faq on this
somewhere?

Frank's also always looking for spare parts which he can then use to repair
other's newts. However your newt is recoverable.

I'm not in any way affiliated with Frank - I'm just a *very satisfied customer.
I don't think I'm the only one.
