I supposed since you can access the Small Extras prefs from the Small
Extras menu itself, it is a bit redundant. But having more the one way to
access the same information has always been a plus in my book. It's your
call Eckhart. :)

Ok, I see what is happening now. The number picking widgets in the prefs
window are not updating the 'tens' position. If I increase the width or
height past 9 the '1' in the tens position does not change unless I close
the prefs and open them again. Likewise, if there is a '1' in the tens
position and I decrease one of the dimensions past 10, the one doesn't
change to a zero. I can't capture the behaviour in a screen dump, because
the renegade numbers don't appear:

Opening another window over top of the prefs window refreshes the numbers
too.
