This afternoon Apple and HP announced they are partnering and HP will
be backing iTunes, the iTMS, and the iPod.

The iPod and iTMS represents Apple's ability to control the digital
music market. Garage Band adds power to that move. Macs are at the
center of this in several ways.

1. Windows users will buy iPods and use iTMS, that gives them
experience with Apple's design philosophy, level of quality, ease of
use, etc ... those people will think about buying a Mac after they are
exposed to Apple.

2. If Apple does not control the digital music market with ACC then it
will be controlled by MS with WMA ... know anyone who produces music on
WMA? You will if it becomes the standard for digital audio, and who
produces WMA on Macs? No one, and no one will, which means the music
production market will slowly creep to Windows. This is a market Apple
still has its feet in and it needs to hold it.

This is a good thing for Apple, look bigger than a passing quarter of
sales.
