This is more or less what I am doing. An alternative default location
for such a folder exists at:

~/Sites

I created the folder:

~/Sites/Packages

and I use NewtsCape per WLAN to "suck" packages from this location on
to my Newt. Very easy. Very reliable. Not my idea originally.
