I was referring to the following:

Stereo Bit Rate of 256kbps, or above
Sample Rate of 44,100
Channels with Stereo
Stereo Mode with Normal not Joint

At the recording criteria above, the file size is about 2MB per minute.

CDs are about 10MB per minute.

So you still save space and have great sound quality.

At rates of 128, less than 44100, and Joint Stereo you get a lot more
compression resulting in a much smaller file size, but the sound quality
becomes much less.

Also, the sound input is only one part of what makes up the sound output
(what you hear). The cabling, speakers, amp, etc. all contribute to the
final product.

Like I said earlier, after you've heard a quarter million dollar system,
all others pale by comparison. :-)
