The "Schuko" (safety contact) standard in germany is not using a third pin
mounted in the wall outlet for the connection of the yellow/green safety
wire. The connection is made on two sides at the plug edges.
Nevertheless most of the new devices with a safety plug do have an universal
plug that fits for both systems (the additional hole does not harm german
outlets) and the outer safty contacts do not disturb french outlets.
