I just found an Orinoco Silver (at a local used mac shop - big sign
inside, advertising wireless cards for <list of older laptops>) and
downloaded Hiroshi's drivers... card is recognized and all that, it pops
up the slip identifying the card and asking if I want to use it for
appletalk... but now when I take it out and put my wired ethernet card
in, it *doesn't* do that, and I can't connect to NCU to do a backup :-( >>

I use an old Orinoco Gold for Newt WiFi. For backups, printing, package
installation, anything NCU, etc. I always use the wired Ethernet. Uncheck
the 'use this card for AppleTalk' box on the Wavelan slip(and setup) and
make sure it's checked on the wired E'net slip. You could also accomplish
this in the AppleTalk prefs.

My D-Link wireless router appears to drop or block AppleTalk packets, hence
the wired connection for NCU.
