I'm afraid I have to disagree - using the exact same wireless card and
router, my powebook averages 6 ms ping, lowest being 2.4 ms, and
highest being 28ms. my mp2100 (which I believe would be faster than his
emate 300) has an average of 10ms, high of 31ms and low of 7.7 ms. That
much lag is NOT normal behaviour for WIFi - but I would expect it on a
system with a slow processor such as the eMate.

Granted, when radio transmission conditions go south, WiFi systems can
exhibit his type of behaviour - but I'd ascribe it more to his eMate -
even on my 2100 pt100 is dog slow, but niftytelnet on my powerbook just
flies over the same hardware.
