[NTLK] SER-001 problems

I'm on digest, so my apologies for the delay.

Sean,

I had the same problem, but with my StyleWriter 2200 (which uses the 2500
driver). It was not an installation problem, everything else worked fine. There
may be something subtle that wasn't implemented in the SER that is needed by
the printer to establish handshaking of some sort - I always got "No printer is
connected" or "Contact with the printer has been lost" (although it never
actually succeeded in connecting) errors. Whatever it is, it does disable the
interconnect port in the same way.

I contacted David but he didn't have an answer for it, and since it's
apparently an infrequent occurrence, understandably wasn't too worried about it -
unfortunately that printer (for the portability) was the main reason I got the
SER, so for me it was not an infrequent, but continuous problem. Once I removed
the SER, the port started working again as before, so I still have to use the
dongle.

Don't get me wrong, the SER is really great, and people like David are the
lifeblood of this group - how amazing that the SER even ever happened! It's just
that this particular combination of h/w & s/w doesn't work.
