Yes it's an option (with an Ethernet card your connection is much
faster) but it's a good idea to have a serial connection as well.
You need it to get the Ethernet drivers on your Newt for starters,
though there was an initiative to have some cards around that can be
send to you with all the necessary drivers on them.
