The best story I have about switching DSL providers was when the ISP I
was using was folded into the Telus behemoth and I was going to lose a
bunch of services for twice the monthly price. I switched to another
local provider, but needed to get my own DSL modem for the connection.
Telus was offering subsidized DSL connection kits for use with their
service at CompuSmart. The store was only supposed to sell them to
customers who could prove they were signed up with Telus, but they
weren't checking anything except your word. I got a D-link modem, a set
of line terminators and a $10 calling card all for $89 CND. Stupid Telus.
I recommend both the D-link and the 3COM modems.
