Re: [NTLK] Problems installing with Escale 1.0.1

I have to react on that topic since I am the one who did the first
AppleTalk interface implementation.
Until I went to WWDC last year (mid may), Apple was not even remotely
aware their AppleTalk handling in MacOS X was broken. Since then a lot
of things have changed, both in MacOS X and in the DCL.
Right now, when something bad happens (on any interface), Paul and I
spend a few days (if not weeks) trying to figure out whether we are
doing something wrong, or the no longer supported AppleTalk interface
is broken again.
The main reason for AppleTalk to be here is to provide an easy, if not
elegant, solution to the bootstrapping problem. Paul works almost only
on TCP. I don't, but then again I switch when there is a problem.
Someday, when everyone has some time, I suggest a massive test with all
available interfaces to detect the flaws in each one. Right now, we are
focusing on higher level things...
If anyone is interested, the source code on network interfaces is
rather straightforward. You could send us a bug report just by getting
the source, hitting the "build and debug" button, doing whatever you do
that causes the stalling, and hitting "pause" when you reach that
point. Then, all you have to do is send us the current function in each
thread (navigate through threads with the popup, and note the highlited
function). :-)

I know this may sound a bit technical, or maybe you feel like we should
do that by ourselves, but there is only the 3 of us (plus the people
who report bugs to us and Sandro who works on the Linux counterpart
many thanks to them) and that's too little to make a very intensive
testing in addition to the feature implementation... for now anyway.

Many thanks again to everyone who's kind enough to help us!
