I have never heard of SDL and Lua before your post. They look interesting.

While your approach is new and original in its own right, I think the way
Newton looks cannot be separated from what lies beneath. Use of SDL may make
emulation NOS look easy, but the problem of matching the look and
native(whatever platform you used to do this) application remains. I think
the latter will be a bigger job maybe.

This is not to discourage your effort and idea - I too feel the need to
succeed NewtonOS platform in newer hardwares. We all do. Being an engineer
myself, I personally think Paul's emulator plan looks promising. But I'd
like to see other approaches.

On a slightly (un)releated note, as I don't rememner seeing this information
on the list, I'll introduce a interesting hardware. This is the closest
handheld to Newton form-factor-wise. It's a PocketPC from Samsung.
