What you describe is the correct preferences screen. It sound like you
have a problem with them card. Bad luck. The same problem with both
newtons seems to rule out a problem with the newton but a successful
mounting of another flash card would confirm it. How long have you
allowed the Newton to ponder the card before resetting, I don't need to
know but I would give it the time it takes to go out have a few drinks
and curse the thing.
