Failing that there ARE firms in Taiwan that can and will cut open chips
and manage to copy them that way
They can copy or clone pretty much anything you hand them
Their minimum runs are in the 2500 piece range

I've just finished talking with one for a different project and they
have done this before (patents and IP notwithstanding)

A clean roomed Newton perhaps ?
