Re: [NTLK] Door clips

Thinking alike, outside the box.... An alternative to the material used in
the rest of the clip seems to be a necessity. I was hoping to test a variety
of materials for the D-spring - especially something that could be easily
replaced like a rubber or vinyl o-ring, neoprene pad, spring steel, etc.
But, the steel/metal alternatives frighten me. If such were to get loose in
the case, it could wreak havoc over the circuit boards.

For the stay-clips, I was thinking of using a pair of small nylon screws to
retain the clip. They could easily be replaced, and would be stronger than
the current fragile "barbs".

Open to other ideas - just drop me a line. Looks like a fairly large
investment in term of $ and time, from Mark's reply though. We'll see if
it's worth the trouble, still looks as if there is little interest in seeing
this to fruition since the current response is about a dozen list members,
and most have expressed that cost is a major decision point. Don't have
clear consensus on a ceiling for cost. Personally, $5-8 a pair would be my
limit and that's what I'm shooting for. If the consensus is much less, I may
have to stick with just documenting the successes and failures of such an
endeavor, so that others can "roll their own".

How 'bout a spring metal clip instead of a plastic one? Yes, yes, it's not just like the original, but is something that can be fabricated at home.

Sort of a U-shape-- with bumpies on the 2 prongs to lock into the holes, and the closed end bent at an appropriate angle to grab the door when it's opened.
