[NTLK] newton fax modem battery contact replacement?

I just got a newton fax modem and it has a problem... (I guess one
always takes chances with ebay when the description is "dont know
about it, havent used it")... it is missing one of the metal battery
contacts that are soldered to the board. I'm wondering whether anyone
can suggest a suitable replacement, either premade, or
do-it-yourself. I did try using a length of copper wire connected to
the little solder post, which is intact still, and tried to get the
battery working, to test it out, but I think that red light only
comes on when the battery is low? Is this right? Anyway, no red light
in my test, figured I may as well try to solder some piece of metal
on as a battery contact. But if anyone can think of a better idea, or
something prefab, pls let me know. Maybe cut a piece of copper/tin?
it works ok off AC power.

thanks for any suggestions.
