This from a quick search on Google for "solder coat pre":

"Pre-coat each of the two parts with solder before soldering them together"

I'm no soldering expert, but there are compounds that will clean and
pre-coat surfaces before soldering.

Subject: [NTLK] Word needed

Hi all,

I'm looking for a word I seem to be unable to look up
anywhere.
How do you call the process of covering a wire (or anything
you
plan to solder) with a thin layer of solder before actually
soldering
it to something? Like in a sentence like

"Solder the wire to the soldering lug. Make sure to blabla
both
wire and lug before as this will reduce the time you need to
solder
them together?"

So far I'm using "tin" for "blabla", but I have a gut
feeling this is wrong
as tin is the word for the metal itself, not for the process
I have
in mind.

Thanks, as always

Frank
