Hi everyone,

To Ed, so sorry to hear your experience with airport security and your Newt. But I have had nothing but positive experiences traveling with my Newt.
Since January I have been on five to six flights (I'm losing count!) up and down the east coast. I have gone through all the heavily secured airports including National Airport, Dulles Airport, Newark
International (now Newark Liberty), LaGuardia, and Baltimore/Washington International. I have had little problems, if any, bringing my 2100 with my carry on, through the security inspections or the airport
scanner. You'll find that the more competent the security people, the more they recognize what a high-tech devices is suppose to be and not to hassle you any more than necessary. As for damage going through the
conveyor belt on an airport scanner, I always have my 2100 encased in a Newton Holster from Pda-Concepts.com. Then It's secured inside a Cambridge zip-around planner/organizer using velcro strips. When I get to
the scanner, I just unzip the planner, unfold it open and lay it on the plastic tray they provide you for your electronics. I don't mind the hassle (I go through this procedure also with my PBook G3 and my Nikon
995), as long as its competent security people who aren't asleep and just going through the motions. I've kind of gotten used to unpacking three electronic devices while I'm in line to go through the scanners that
I've gotten it almost to an artform.

Actually I've heard that the security staff on most east coast airports are pretty good. I've heard horror stories about Atlanta, O'Hare (Chicago), San Jose, and Sacramento. So maybe you might want to avoid
those.

later,
