I suspect all you've done is ruin your stylus. Filing would be a way of
INTRODUCING roughness and impurities. Dropping your stylus on its tip from
any normal height should not result in imbedding anything in it so firmly
that you'd need to file. And filing might either further imbed the foreign
object or cause such gauges in the material as to make entrapment of other
foreign bodies MORE likely. If any thing were attached to the tip after
dropping, simply wiping with a cloth should remove it. I'm not sure if
alcohol would degrade the tip material, but if it doesn't you could try that
to remove anything sticky that might have coated the tip.
