Hello,

May I set the record straight ?

I owned a Newton since v1.0 and still have a MessagePad 2100

NYCNUG was one of the first Newton Groups in the country. We met at
Apple for years in NYC. As the Newton met its demise -you do know it
is no longer made :-) and users were reduced to a handful, the group
began to evolve to support new PDA devices. Only because that is what
the members wanted.

The rest is obvious and NYCDAUG was formed to support any and ALL
PDAs in order to not reinvent the wheel every time a new PDA platform
evolved.

User groups are based on USER INTEREST and if our group has interest
in Newton meetings and members want to me, I am all for it.

NYCDAUG now has over 600 members composed mostly of Palm OS and
Pocket PC and a smattering of Psion and Linux. We have a web site
and am more than willing to add more Newton coverage if someone wants
to volunteer to do.

If you are interested let me know but it is far easier working with
an existing UG structure then starting a new one. This way you see if
there is interest before you knock your socks off.

If you want my help and want to gear up
Newton meeting interest here in NYC,
let me know. I am open to it. But if you check out our pages (all
of them) as they exist today, take time
and read the minutes of when we were all Newton a few years ago.

NYCDAUG if it only supported Newton would have been long dead as a UG
of 5 or 10 is a tough one to maintain month to month compared to
doing a mail list . I know first hand

FYI, NYCDAUG has lots of affiliations and is an official Apple User
Group as well.

But, it is up to you. I am only offering my years of experience and
our site, affiliations, etc. if interested.

Thanks and best of luck.

- Peter
